8.25.12

Monday, August 24, 2015

i woke up this morning feeling ridiculously nostalgic.
i opened up my silly youtube channel + watched video after video
of jay + i from dating, to engaged to married, to honeymoon.
i can't get over the fact that tomorrow will be three years.
three wonderful, hard, easy, fulfilling, happy, awesome years.
+ truly, honestly, it gets better + better with everyday.

i don't have a lot of wedding pictures or memories on this blog
(i've started + ended more blogs than i care to admit)
so with tomorrow being such a special day,
i figured i deserved to post about 8.25.12.
right?
right.

jay + i were married in the sacramento LDS temple.
we are lucky enough to be from the same area,
our parents only living about 40 minutes from each other,
so that made the choice of where to get married a no brainer.

a day before jay proposed, he took me to a theatre costume shop in old town auburn.
it was actually a warehouse filled with every costume imaginable
from every time period + outfit you would ever want.
she gave us a tour + at the end, i felt like i should ask her if she had wedding dresses.
she took me to about 20 balls of white, ivory + off-white dresses + i looked through each one.
i kid you not, the last dress was this ball of lace + i decided i want to try it on.
*mind you jay, my BOYFRIEND, is still with me + probably was rethinking the whole propose to this crazy lady idea*
it fit perfectly.
this vintage, all lace dress fit me perfectly.
i asked her to put it on hold + told her i would come back in two days with my mom.
well the next day, jay proposed (super cute story too)
+ thursday we went to see "the dress."
it was long sleeved, turtle necked + had a train the length of a hallway,
but both my mom + i agree,
there was major potential.
so we bought it.
we bought my wedding dress for 80 dollars at a theatre costume shop
+ made it into my dream wedding dress.
how's that doing things on a budget?

our day was perfect.
i don't remember all the details,
thank goodness to our wonderful photographer,
Photography By Bianca
+ my wonderful bridesmaids who filmed my wedding video for me,
but i do remember it being one of the best days of my life.
i remember feeling ridiculously loved + ridiculously happy.
marriage is a lot of things, but marriage has been so good because of my spouse.
i love you jay,
happy three years to us.
i cannot wait to see what year three has in store for us.

it kind of blows my mind that THREE YEARS AGO, jay put a ring on my finger.
where, oh where, does that time fly off to?!
i'm not sure if our proposal story is on this blog, but basically jay asked me to marry him under this huge live oak tree.
not only is this a beautiful tree, but this tree is my favorite tree.
in high school + college i would bike or drive to this tree
+ jay was the only guy i ever took to this special place.
it completely blew me away that he proposed at this place,
major props to him for realizing that it would only make it that much more special.
he put lanterns in the branches with tea lights + it was beautiful.

i decided to make a date to celebrate a good memory so i made scones the night before,
packed up the car + drove jay out to our tree early saturday morning.
we swung from the branches, jay climbed the tree + scared the heck out of me
+ sheila had the best time running around watching us climb around.

i'm really glad i took video as well.
while this footage was suppose to be made into something else,
plans change + while i'm still getting used to that,
i'm glad i have these moments captured to look back on.

i remember the day after jay proposed.
i woke up with the sun peeking through the blinds, highlighting the dust in the room
+ looking at this beautiful, new piece of jewelry on my finger + thinking,
wow, life can't get better than this.
the amount of love i felt for the world, my friends, family + most importantly, jay,
kept a smile on my face for that entire day,
it was an amazing feeling, knowing that life was so good.

but you know what?
life got even better in a more mature way.
in these three years i've laughed, cried and loved harder than any three years of my life.
+ as we walked together again under this tree,
my heart got a little bigger for the love of life i have.

fast forward to now + i look at this day with some pangs of sadness + loss, again.
that doesn't stop me though from adding this day to another page to a good life
+ loving jay + this tree even more.
happy three years my mr. j.
you make my life oh so good.

something to be said

Thursday, January 29, 2015

i've got this thing about taking picture of the back of people's heads,
especially and exclusively of jay.
i even made a hashtag out of it.
+ looking at the beginning picture, i smile thinking about how you clomped through that mandarin orchard throwing peels back at me, laughing my favorite laugh.
a n y w a y s....
you fell asleep a few hours ago.
6:30 on a thursday to be exact,
which is a bummer because thursdays are basically a friday.
so i watched my netflix,
took silly videos of you sleeping,
used you for your body heat + sneakily tried to prod you awake.
then i got bored + started editing again
while listening to my special playlist on spotify
+ norah jones, love me tender came on.

love me tender, love me sweet,
never let me go.
you have made my life complete + i love you so.

love me tender, love me true,
all my dreams fulfill.
for, my darling, i love you,
+ i always will.

i looked over at your wide open mouth + quietly laughed.
this is my marriage, this is my complete life
+ may i never forget that i've got a hard-working, loving husband
who works hard labor for us.
who loves me tender + true
+ fulfills my hopes, dreams + wishes.
it's a wonderful thing to be married to you.
you are everything i wish to be when it come to work ethic, responsibility + accountability.
you are dedicated, loving + really are the best.
thanks for keeping me sane,
keeping me grounded,
keeping me camilla.
i sure do love you.

whoaaaaa....hello mr. hancock

we were told it was going to be hard.

we were told never go to bed angry.

we were told the money would be tight + that would cause problems.

we were told the newlywed phase would end.

we were told by those who didn't understand, that 'marriage weigh you down.'

but

we learned, it's 100% worth it.

we learned to go to bed angry because when it's 1 am + i have the ugly cry face going on...
no one is winning.

we found out how fun it is to be poor. like not have anything but a bed poor.
like have picnics on the floor every night, kind of poor.
kissing across our blanketed floor + lighting candles, because why not, kind of poor.
like the look at your taxes + be amazed that you make so little + live so good, kind of poor.

we learned that we are past the newlywed stage, we are in the stage of knowing how awesome marriage really is.
we are in the didn't know it got this much better stage,
because truly + somehow, it gets better than the 'i do.'
still can't wrap my mind around that either.

we learned that there are really no words to describe the freedom that comes,
knowing you are always safe, always loved, always being thought of, always forever.

like this song says:
oh i am yours + you are mine.

+ these amazing pictures were taking by the talented Jillian Goulding.

donut you know i love you?

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

our valentines day...or should i say weekend,
was a blast.
i woke up really early to surprise jay with donuts + to give him my gifts.
mugs.
yep, we have become that couple who on a certain holiday,
i know i'll receive some plants + jay will get some mugs + goodies.
personally, i love it...jay couldn't care less + always gives a good surprised face,
so i will say the gift giving went well.
we went for a run + talked about everything + nothing.
we got ready + decided to make lunch our valentines date.
we went to our favorite sushi place + decided to order things we had never gotten before.
best idea ever.
we found two really amazing new rolls,
the honey dew was SO GOOD.
mango + the d.f. shrimp...we highly recommend it.
+ the rolls royce.
that had salmon, crab, ginger, basil + my favorite...oranges on the top!
yumm, just thinking about it.

then for dinner, more family showed up + we ate the hancock valentines day traditional dinner,
chinese food.
we all stuffed ourselves + enjoyed the company of such a big family.
it was great.
i brought out my surprise, chinese flying lanterns.
we had a blast lighting them off, all of us laughing + praying that the light would burn out in the sky.
it was the perfect valentines day,
full of love + lots + lots of laughter.

ps. we all stayed up until one watching youtube videos...i woke up with a sore cheek because i was laughing so hard
