The Evening, Wright's Beach Adventures

Tuesday, April 7, 2015

sunday night, i mentioned to jay,
hey, we need a break from life right now, let's take off this week somewhere we've never been.
tuesday, the campsite was booked + a wednesday we were off.
we were gone for 48 hours, but it was JUST what i needed, we needed.

we grabbed daniel + ashley to come along + arrived in bodega bay a few hours later.
first off, northern california is amazing.
this time of the year is just my favorite.
the hills are green + wildflowers are still in bloom.

you know when you play 20 questions + someone asks, where is your dream location to live?
bodega bay + all up + down highway 1 is my dream location.
it's the country. cows + horses dot the hills with darling houses nestle in huge eucalyptus trees,
but the coast, cold + beautiful, isn't too far away.
so the drive was perfect. our campground was super small, but RIGHT on wright's beach.
*thank you ashley + your disability parking benefits*
we quickly unpacked the car + went straight out to the beach.
wright's beach is actually one of the coasts most dangerous beaches.
they had this list of 7 rules,
some of them being:
no playing with waves,
never turn your back in the ocean
+ absolutely NO swimming.
but this beach had one rule that we loved.
dogs allowed.
so we brought our puppy sheila + it was like we experienced the beach the beach for the first time again watching her love it.
i mean, she seriously loved it.
never got near the water, but she ran around with her tail curled under her
(that's her speedy run)
eating the sand, spiting it out, eating the sand, spiting it out.
she chased seagulls + curled up in my lap that night by the fire + i thought,
man, life is good.
we fell asleep to waves crashing, we never heard any other campers.
like i said, this 48 hour camping trip was JUST what we needed.

ps. how hilarious is this, we found it + thought it looked like jay.
he added a mustache + we all had a good laugh out of it!

  1. First of all I love camping! Second, I have been planning a trip to camp on the beach for this summer! We've been looking at a ton of places in northern california too since neither have been up there. So jealous, it looks so fun and relaxing. Beautiful pictures!
