happy second celebration

Wednesday, August 27, 2014

two years. TWO YEARS. wow, has the time really flown that quickly by?!
that's what jay + i kept saying to each other monday. it was like we blinked + the time whooshed right
over us.
jay sorta tricked me into planning monday, he told me to find a nice restaurant,
but he knows me too well.
sure, i like fancy, but i like reliving memories better + that's just what he did.
i woke up to the sweetest text (he had early morning work)
telling me that today was remember when day.
so he texted me all these memories he had from when we first met/dating
+ was super vague about what we were to do that night.
so, being the cute wife that i am (psh, who am i kidding, thank you pintrest)
got this ready for him when he got home BUT as you can start to see,
the helium started to go out of the balloons + by the time he showed up,
half of them were at that height of that pathetic one.

he came home from work + said, we leave in 10 mins! Grab your camera + let's go!
he still was being sneaky about the evening, but again, that's just what i like.

sneaky jay took us to B.J.'s for some deep dish pizza + sparking raspberry mojitos
(i drank about 6 of them...).
we talked about our predictions for the next year of marriage + ummm i'm pumped.
we have a special spot for BJ's (isn't that the most awful name for when i'm trying to be serious?!)
+ we again, played the game, remember when.
the food was killer + it was fun planning ahead + remembering.

after din din, we jumped in the car + end up at home depot...
oh you better believe i was pumped.
i thought we were there for the plant selection + jay lead me to believe that we were there for just a quick look.
after looking at the flowers + plants, he started leading me through the maze of isles, confusing me as to why we were in the tool section looking at axes, the appliance section looking at fridges + the wood section looking at 2x4, until we walked into the lock + key area.
back in 2012, when we were dating, jay took me to forrest hill bridge on valentines day to recreate paris + italy's lock bridge. it was cute, i totally thought he was going to propose (which he didn't)
+ it was a perfect night.
unfortunately, the bridge recently had construction to it + our lock was removed for new railing.
so jay decided that we needed to 'relock' our love lock + so we bought everything
+ headed up to the bridge!

then to fosters for some yummy ice cream that i got ALL OVER my dress.
+ last but not least, we headed to the movies to finally see guardians of galaxy,
which, btw is the best marvel movie ever.

i totally get that tonight might not be everyone's ideal 2nd anniversary date, but for our relationship, it was the perfect remembering day for the best two years of our lives.
i love that about our relationship, it's exactly what i need it + want it to be.
sure, we can be fancy, but at the end of the day, we are just a 22 + 24 year old who really like each other + wanted to celebrate August 25th in our special way.
i love you jay baby. thanks for being my best.

ps. jay doesn't get me flowers, he gets me plants, they last longer he says :)
so this year, he let me pick out some plants + we built a terrarium! we LOVE it

pps. enjoy

that perfect kind of sunday night

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

can you see those cows checking out that sweet pony?!
i mean...shoot...

i seem to find + make new friends who own horses.
this last sunday, i was picked up + brought to another hidden gem.
that slow but soothing coo of birds, with a gentle wind and the familiar smell of idaho,
refreshed me on sunday.
it brought me back from the stress of moving + homework + projects.

i find so much beauty in idaho on the daily.
it's in the littlest things too.
a simple sunset happens at the end of everyday,
but some how idaho seems to have the most amazing sunsets.
there is a feeling of peace that really is amazing here in this small town.

as i come to a close of my college education, i remember.
i remember the quiet awe in the difference from my suburbia home town,
to the flat, quiet, small town.
i found some of my best times in this town.

as i walked around sunday night, i was again reminded of the quiet beauty that comes from idaho.
it's become a part of me now,
the //inner// country girl who pretended her bicycle was
a speedy horse
+ her backyard was a jungle or the plains or mountains,
idaho has become her playing grounds.

i won't forget the pride i had seeing all of rexburg come out on main street for the 4th of july parade
or being able to get anywhere in the town in less than ten minutes,
or singing hymns under the stadium bleachers.
so so many good memories in this small farm town.

so i remembered as i spoke to the best listeners,
letting them investigate
my camera,
my backpack,
my hair.

 because

no matter where life takes me, part of me will always be the little girl who fell in love with horses.
